Microincisional Phlebectomy is used for varicose veins larger than 4mm in diameter. The area to be treated is anesthetized with a local lidocaine injection, then using specialized tools, the vein is removed through a small (2mm) openings. Sutures are not necessary as the scars are very small and normally not visible.

Sclerotherapy is used for veins smaller than 4mm in diameter. An FDA approved Sclerosant (solution) is injected into the vein dissolving it. The patient's normal processes absorb and elimate the vein over several months. This technique removes veins without scarring, but more than one treatment may be neccessary.
