Tumescent liposculpting is an effective procedure
to remove unwanted inches without the risk associated
with general anesthesia and the cost of hospitalization.
Is tumescent
liposculpting right for you?
Tumescent liposculpting is an effective
technique to remove fat from the neck, chin, abdomen,
breast, thighs, hips, buttocks, flanks, knees, arms
and ankles. The procedure addresses areas of the body
that are resistant to diet and exercise.
Procedure
The tumescent liposculpting procedure
uses a diluted local anesthetic injected directly
into the fat. This technique is called "tumescent"
because the diluted anesthesia solution causes the
affected area to swell. The diluted anesthesia solution
is slowly administered into the treatment area during
a 60 to 90 minute period. The physician then contours
and shapes the area by removing fat through a small
cannula (slender tube).
After the
procedure
The patient leaves with minimal pain
and a compression garment that allows most people
to return to work in 72 hours. Most patients can discontinue
using the compression garment and resume exercise
within three weeks.
After three to six months, the skin
will contract and shrink to fit the treatment zone.
Two or three ultrasound massage treatments can be
used to speed the healing process.
