As we age we
lose facial volume. Imagine how a balloon shows wrinkles
as the air is let out. A face lift pulls the skin
tighter but it does not correct the loss in volume.
This effect leaves many face lift patients looking
unnatural.
Facial augmentation
with muscle and deep stem cell injections can fix
the underlying volume loss. FAMI
stands for Fat Autograft
Muscle Injection. The
procedure is a systematized full-face injection for
pan-facial restoration. Fat is a natural filler advocated
by thousands of doctors for more than a century. The
safest grafts are the auto-grafts, which means that
the patient is grafted with his own tissue. Over the
last century, in medical meetings, the controversy
has always been on the survival of the fat, not on
the safety of fat autografting.
Today many people, using diet and
workout, age with a thinner face. Shrinkage of the
muscles is the primary manifestation of aging. In
these patients, face lifting produces a mask look.
Restoring the volume of the atrophied muscles is a
highly effective method for rejuvenation.
Patients with gaunt or drawn
faces, who are looking for rejuvenation without invasive
surgery, can benefit from FAMI.
Procedure Planning
When planning the procedure,
Dr. Orton studies a photo of the patient near age
20 to evaluate the volume of the brow, lips and chin
in order to understand the individual's natural facial
structure. Dr. Orton then checks the 30 muscles of
facial expression and notes the atrophied muscles
responsible for hollows and folds.
Procedure
FAMI involves a liposuction
procedure to obtain fresh stem cells from the patient,
that are then injected into the face to restore volume.
These stem cells can become muscle, fat or bone and
provide a lasting improvement in facial volume and
rejuvenation.
